Increase your chances of seeing the elusive northern lights by taking part in a guided excursion. Heading out from Tromso, your guide uses forecasts and local knowledge to navigate you to the best vantage point. After finding the right setting, gather around a campfire and warm up with some soup. Though there is never a guarantee of seeing the northern lights, with any luck, you'll catch a glimpse. Your guide not only offers tips for capturing the northern lights on camera, but also takes photos of you (provided for free after the tour ends).

What To Expect

After pickup in central Tromsø, travel with your guide into the surrounding countryside, potentially crossing into Finland if conditions demand. Please bring your passport to cover for this possibility.

Your guide will use their knowledge of the weather and the Northern Lights to decide on a viewpoint and, on arrival, will set up camp and light a bonfire. Settle by the fire to observe the skies and enjoy homemade soup to stay warm.

Sometimes you’ll need to wait to see the lights, while on other occasions, you may be treated to an extended show. As you watch, wait, and take in the lights, learn about the science behind them from your guide.

Keep your camera ready for pictures, and get tips on how to capture great photos. You’ll also receive souvenir photos by email after your tour.

When the time comes, your tour concludes with a hotel drop-off in Tromso.

Each night we hunt for the Aurora and go to many different destinations, we have hundreds of areas to choose from and we will go to wherever is safest and most likely for guests to see the Northern Lights

• We encourage you to provide us with your email address to be able to send you the web size pictures after the tour

• When exceptional situations arise (e.g. environmental cancellations) it is important to reach you. This is easiest if you provide your contact number on the road (phone number + correct country code) & keep this with you on the day of the tour.

• We only drop off at set drop off locations: Scandic Ishavhotel, Smarthotel, AMIhotel, Vervet, Wandering Owl office, Airport, Arctic Cathedral, Tromsø Camping bus stop, Breivika Cruise Dock

• Winter equipment is included, please give us your clothing and shoe sizes - fill out ewaiver form

• Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking as well as medical condition if needed

• Please bring your passport with you in case you need to cross to Finland during the tour

• Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately. Make sure you wear a warm base layer, winter clothes including warm shoes, a hat, mittens, a scarf and woolen socks.

• A small amount of walking is involved, you must be able to walk 200m

• Please be prepared for limited toilet facilities, there will be a gas station stop during the drive, however the camp itself is in the wild Arctic nature where the only toilet possibilities are in the forest (there are no pre-built facilities).

• Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if less than 4 passengers per tour. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund

• We provide home-made vegan and gluten free soup

• You must travel with travel insurance.

• SIGN OUR eWAIVER. We need one participant to sign it on behalf of the group making sure that the names of all participants are in the document.
